Description

I really appreciated the comments I received on my last post, saying not to worry about commenting, but... I guess I have a bit of OCD, because I really hate to not respond to a comment. Unfortunately, I've also inherited two traits from my dad; a certain loquaciousness, and an abysmally slow typing speed. And like many here, I have been very busy of late. I also find it virtually impossible to listen to anything except music without vocals, while commenting. (Actually I can listen to opera, a new interest of mine, because I usually can't understand the words anyway.) So... since my hard drive is bulging with images, I decided on a plan (yes, another one). I'm going to do a series each week (the first will be street images of Dublin) and I'll have the comment box turned on, on the last image at the end of the week (usually on Saturday). I just want everyone to know that I really love your comments but in order to get any images out and have peace from my little obsessive compulsive mind, I need to do it this way. Fav if you are so inclined, but there will be an open comment box at the end of each series. I left the comment box on today as I am semi caught up and I haven't posted for two weeks. Street scenes of Dublin. The first one fairly heavily post worked. This is the Bank of Ireland. I didn't know that at the time I took the picture, but as it is near the statue of Molly Malone, and has a very distinctive shape, it was easy to find that out later. I've been writing down some of my experiences on the trip to Ireland. The fun started before we had left New York. We left on an evening flight, and after going through security (my hands were checked for traces of explosives), we ate at an "Irish Pub" near our gate. Our waiter was a very personable and handsome young man who chatted easily with us as he took and served our orders. He told us how to pronounce Smithwick's ale, which is not how you might think. It was a very pleasant meal, and at the end of it we decided to share a desert. We told our nice waiter we would like a slice of cheesecake. He replied, "Bread Pudding", "No" said we, somewhat surprised, "Cheesecake" He told us that the bread pudding was the best desert on the menu. "Cheesecake" more firmly. He said the bread pudding was heavenly. Leslie then threw me under the bus and said it was my fault. We were sharing it, and I didn't like bread pudding. I didn't elaborate but this is quite true as most bread pudding I've had, has raisins in it and I don't like raisins. He gave me a mournful look, but then smiled and said, "Cheesecake, with two spoons" A little later he came out with our desert and two spoons gave it to us with a lovely smile and left. We looked at it... We took a bite...We looked at each other... It was bread pudding. It was also very good and there were no raisins. We made pretty quick work of it and laughed that we had been dictated to by the waiter and didn't mind a bit. As we were finishing it off, he came hurrying to the table with a slice of cheesecake. He said he had rushed into the kitchen and told them that they had to give him a slice of cheesecake right away. That he had tried so hard to convince us that he had convinced himself. We had to eat at least a little of the cheesecake (which was on the house) or he would feel horribly guilty. We could hardly distress such a kind soul, so we struggled through a fair amount of it and waddled off to our flight. But not before I told our cheeky waiter that the bread pudding WAS better (and I love cheesecake). So if you are ever at the Aer Lingus section of the Kennedy Airport in NYC, and you see an Irish Pub, I highly recommend the bread pudding. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Thanks for viewing and for previous comments and favs!

You know I give my beautiful comments by the perceived values are correct and I must say a fee and I do not count the words. It is always good but a joy as I contemplate all my friends and I have this need to restore if I do not look.

A very special photo shot, my dear. Are you sure there was not currently a bank robbery? I see someone running fast behind the fence. (by using zoom) Have you seen it before? Perhaps, it was still a prison, and an escaped villain? LOL This picture could very well be placed on the challenge of this month. The topic is "vertical". Chuckle about your adventures with that handsome 'pudding-boy'. Oh, and I like that on your photo it looks as if the sky, as smoke is coming out of the building. A big pipe, then, filled with money?

I hate to admit to similar OCD traits - and I feel obligated to comment and my strict upbringing taught me, it is good manners to retort and I don't mind at all - but it is always such a big time juggle and you have come up with a fantastic solution, thanks for sharing it ... *** A remarkable looking building - nothing like a bank, I would ever imagine to look like ! ... and what a great missive - 'Bread-pudding' vs 'Cheesecake' LOL - choices! I also have little time to comment, and my limited knowledge of English makes me short comment! Of this I'm sorry! Your image is very nice, Lucinda and your story is very interesting! :)

Wow, are you loquacious! What a novelette! An interesting catharsis and food critique following the stark image of this Coliseum type structure, Lucinda. Plus, I do miss your sage comments in my gallery. Question: Why does Ireland have so many people? Answer: Because its capital is always Dublin.

So glad you finally found time to share some more pics from your trip Lucinda, and it sounds like you need to keep them coming as your hard drive is about ready to burst. This is such a cool pic with a truly epic feel. I've never seen a bank that is this cool, but I still am trying to spot the atm machines ;) Also enjoyed very much your thoughts on your trip as well as the story of the young man who was pushing the bread pudding. Glad I wasn't there as I've got a lot of Irish in me also and couldn't be talked away from the cheesecake no matter how sad he might look. lol Thanks again for your lovely gallery

A lovely capture of this building and I am chuckling over your strategy about getting the commenting done. I hope yours lasts better than mine did. I have yet to find the best way to do the comments. I loved your story about your cheesecake episode and you must have been laughing as you took your flight. A great way to start your adventure. Thank you for sharing.

My GOD! Someone else who does not like raisins. For 47 years I believed that I was alone on this Earth. You have no idea how many times I had to pick out the "surprises" in my deserts and other foods because everybody loves raisins so much that no one bothers to mention that they are there. One of the reasons I HATE Sara Lee. Beautiful shot and so keeping with the classical grandeur of the building. Let's hope that Ireland one day finds a better use for it than a bank - of all the hopeless things. Thanks for posting this.

What a grand old building and not a window in sight. Looks a bit like a mausoleum. I love what you've done with the old place. As for commenting, take care of real life first and get back to us when you can. I figure that should guilt trip you enough to hold you over until you have more time. {;D
