Description


The juveniles are distinctive due to their 'threadfin' appearance of having trailing anal and dorsal fin filaments which recede with age. (See illustration below) imagebam.com These filaments apparently help the fish to look dangerous, as it's predators mistake them for the stingers on a sea jelly. I shot this yesterday at the Melbourne Aquarium. Please zoom for a better look, and thanks for taking the time to visit my gallery. Andrew
