Description
It was a very sad day yesterday for us, when our best friend of almost 20 years had died.
Monkey our cat, was the best companion I've ever had and one doesn't realise how much you miss them, once they are not around anymore.
My Mother and I are grateful for the good times we've had together with her, there was nothing we could do anymore to prolong her life, no matter how much we wished for it - not to come to an end.
"Nothing lasts forever"...in the words Axel Rose, with a heavy heart we had to bury her under the Mulberry Tree, where she used to go every afternoon and catch the last rays of the Sun.

I am very sorry for your loss... I do know how you feel. I lost my Panner kitty of 18 years, born on Valentines Day, dies 18 years almost to the day (Feb 12th). It is devastating. Then 4 years back we lost Shadow our dog, and one year after Smokey our cat (we have 2 of his sons both are 13). Then I have Jr. my kitty love who is 12 and diabetic so every day is precious even more so. Sorry to be long winded, but you see I do know. I wish nothing but trees to climb, clover, sunshine and mice for Monkey in kitty heaven. She is and will be a part of you and your Mom's life always. Hugs.... Ariana

I am also very upset and heartbroken, having lost our Monkey this way, it's as if somebody chopped off a part of my body - I am totally lost without her and miss her every minute of the day. She certainly was part of our small family and the pain now - is just so hard to bare. Thanks for the dedication Jeff, she will never be forgotten ! BB

Wow 20 years... Sorry to hear about your loss... My friend Hurry (orange tom cat) passed away 10 years ago. He was my best buddy for 19 1/2 years... A very gentle and kind feline. He sometimes appears in my dreams at night...

Sorry to hear of your loss,your right nothing prepares you,you can only do what you can for them,which is always your very best.I lost mine,well it will be 3yrs this nov & I still miss him lots.I have another 3 which also are getting on a bit in age & I will have to face losing them one day.your piccie is a lovely tribute to her.Xx

Our animal friends and companions are as integral a part of our lives as is our human friends and family and their passing hurts just as badly. I have lost more than plenty of both in my life, one can only hope you affected their lives as much as they did yours covering the hole they leave with memories of them as you move on. Peace

Beautiful tribute to your cat in words and image. I understand very well, I lost my good friend , Piv at an age above 18 years, a couple a months ago and even I got a new very sweet and funny kitten, I am still thinking of my old cat... Sorry to hear this news my friend, I lost my dog in Januari and still feel a lump in my throat whenever I see a photo of her, I know the feeling and it will need time to heal. Take care and try to remember the good times.

Monkey is in the happy hunting ground and will watch over you from there for you. so sorry about your loss. i have lost a lot of my babys to eiither old age or health problems but it still hurts when their time comes. i will always have them in my heart and memories of the great times we had together.

Dude, I am so sorry! Monkey lived a very long and happy life though- RIP Monkey. The craziest thing is we are both named Jeff, both have cats with the same name... It is a long partnership you had with this wonderful kitty- my deepest condolences to you and your mum.

We invest so much love into our animal familiars that it's always a wrench when they move on. My sympathies go out to you and your family Jeff. I'm sure Monkey will leave a big hole behind him but beware of cats - they all know when a vacancy occurs and I'm sure another critter will turn up to help, they always do.
