UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I think I've said it before Bill, but it sure is a wonderful place with amazing history....as I guess all lighthouses probably do.

Tremendously evocative.

Excellent capture. :)))) I love light houses, but dont think I could be in this one for 40 + days. I would for sure get very, very lonely. LOL!!!! Thank you so very much for the history and the beautiful image. :)))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :))))))

Awesome shot.

Great photo. I assume by telephoto lens. Fist, I'm surprised and full of admiration for the work building this - that it was even possible, considering the wild storms that could destroy what was built. Secondly, the immensity of the waves crashing against, and over, the light house - truely enormous, and yet it's still standing. Third, the fortitude of the light house keepers who could put up with the isolation and the nerve-wracking storms and the risk of damage, injury or death. The haze/fog says a lot. And, what about communications with people on the mainland? This photo says a LOT about the dangerous life of a light house keeper. Keep up the good work! :-)

That must have been a pretty foreboding place to spend that amount of time! Let alone attempt to get onto!! Great, lonely looking shot Bill.. Well done! Rob

A perfect place and job for a true loner; I find it very appealing in some odd way. And a beautiful capture, your postwork really shows it off!

42 days alone on a tiny island with nothing but seagulls and waves? Are they hiring?
jendellas
It looks so remote & lonely & I expect quite eerie, especially at night, super capture!!!

Nice antique feel to this - looks very lonely & isolated...

A fantastic photo. 42 days? I'd have to take a couple dozen books along to read.

Very fantastic image. Well done

The amount of detail you captured is amazing, especially considering the fact that this is over a mile away! Love that filter on this ... it's just the right mood. I wouldn't mind 42 days alone, but knowing the stories about rocks crashing through the windows during big storms would make me a bit nervous!

Wonderful I am always surprised by how low the US lighthouses are compared to ours.. I would imagine stormy seas going right over the top!

Love the grainy effect in the full-size image.

Really good atmosphere of loneliness. Could make a good poster.

Undeniable isolation projected in this splendid image, Bill.

I think your filter does make this view look more lonely and far away. Excellent work.

Wonderfully moody and evocative shot of this fascinating place. There's just something about light houses, isn't there. Of course, I'm also getting an image of Jack Nicholson grinning maniacally over his typewriter typing page after page of "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."
jocko500
wow this is lovely

It is an excellent capture but I can't imagine spending 42 days out there. Very bleak looking and there were no helicopters in those days. :>) Dana
