Description
These are two waterfalls that pour into Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. The one on the left is Tueeulala (try and wrap your tongue around THAT one!! lol) Wapama is the other one.
The day after we were there, a group of backpackers was returning from a 4 day trip. During the time they were gone, there was rain and snowmelt and the bridge under Wapama Falls became nearly impassable. Two were swept off the bridge and lost their lives. It once again shows a moment's lapse in judgment can have horribly tragic results. My son has made the same trip and knows exactly where they were and how it could happen. Nature always wins.

Wow it's rare to see two waterfalls in the same shot. I think they were a doctor and medical assistant (or something like that!). Anyway I remember that bridge and the gap between the two sets of railings. I wonder if that's where it happened. When I visited it was so calm, I can't imagine how much water there must have been. Your right, nature always wins.

Stunning! You really capture the scale of these beauties; I especially like the rough rock...those cliff faces are incredibly imposing, and considering the sheer size of the earth's crust, it's all the more impressive (as by planetary standards, these are "small" cliffs.) In short, WOW!!!! Nature doesn't do anything that is less than amazing! It's terrible that people have and can lost their lives while enjoying this, but I suspect in a way it's a part of the natural order. When you're dealing with Nature, it's best to always be aware of scale, and like it or not, we're not the big kids on the block. Okay, enough of that and back to this photo. WOW! Oh man! This is frakkin' cool, and yep, awesome is the word that fits. I really like that word when it comes to Natural wonders.

Super shot Marilyn - so many people visit the valley and never see this amazing sight. Sorry to hear about the backpackers. Dana
