Description
Dream of the endless: ah there’s a conundrum.
In this aspect ( and we perceive but aspects of the Endless, as we see the light glinting from one tiny facet of some huge and flawlessly cut precious stone), he is rake-thin, with skin the color of falling snow.
Dream accumulates names to himself like others make friends; but he permits himself few friends.
If he is closest anyone, it is to his elder sister, whom he sees but rarely.
He heard long ago, in a dream, that one day every century Death takes a mortal flesh, better to comprehend what the lives she takes must feel like, to taste the bitter tang of mortality: that this is the price she must pay for being the divider of the living from all that has gone before, all that must come after.
He broods about this tale, but has never questioned her about its truth. Perhaps he fears that she would answer him.
Of all the Endless, save perhaps Destiny, he is most conscious of his responsibilities, the most meticulous in their execution.
Dream casts a human shadow, when it occurs to him to do so.
Neil Gaiman
Neil Gaiman's The Sandman was launched in 1989. This extremely popular series was bound into ten collections. Following Dream of the Endless, also known as Morpheus, Onieros and many other names, we explore a magical world filled with stories both horrific and beautiful.
What do you need to know to enjoy the series? Only that there are seven brothers and sisters who have been since the beginning of time, the Endless. They are Destiny, Death, Dream, Desire, Despair, Delirium who was once Delight, and Destruction who turned his back on his duties. Their names describe their function and the realms that they are in charge of. Several years ago, a coven of wizards attempted to end death by taking Death captive, but captured Dream instead. When he finally escapes he must face the changes that have gone on in his realm, and the changes in himself.

That this gentleman "dream" is to be, I can imagine. Dreams are not always nice. Most of them are strange. beautiful execution! I like the stories of Neil Gaimann, I found the story "Neverwhere" quite well. Since I am now looking forward to the rest of the family ...
