Description

Tiffany lamps originated circa 1895. They were great works of art fashioned from stained glass and leaded boundaries in much the same way as Renaissance cathedral windows. They were created by skilled artisans and those that still survive have been auctioned in the $100,000 - $200,000 range. The original designer was not Louis Comfort Tiffany as is commonly supposed but was actually discovered in later years to be Clara Driscoll. Personally, this does not surprise me; I have always considered Tiffany lamps to have arisen from the feminine Gestalt. Usually, Tiffany lamps are displayed unlighted sitting on a table. This is unfortunate because their true beauty can only be appreciated when they are illuminated from within. I find the same thing to be true, incidentally, where human beings are concerned. My rendering today is a variation on the theme; I hope you like it. Created in Ultra Fractal

I can see the glow in the lamp as if there was a soft light turned on inside it. Lovely crystalline-looking abode, which reinforces the notion of Tiffany Lamps as precious gems. Amazingly skillful and tasteful work.

Wow Stan!!!! We had no internet since early yesterday so I am just now getting to see this. I love this image of a Tiffany lamp. The design is stunning and the lighting fits perfectly to make it look like a bulb is glowing inside. Your info that goes along with the image is very helpful, I learned new facts I never knew. Thank you for sharing this.
