I remember this kind of sight from my childhood. Peonies never seem to last long, and yet they last quite a long time...just not in bloom. I always found the fallen petals as fascinating as the blooms during life. The colors remain gorgeous, as you show here so well! This is superb: as always! Really marvelous. And I can also say that I love the smell of peonies and wet grass and soil.

I had forgotten how they looked at this stage. My mother used to grow large areas of peonies and I saw this often, but not for many years now.
