Description
A detail from the rugged terrain of the Teide area. Most of the area in the south of Tenerife is made of lava and rocks, and what exists of agricultural soil was imported by truck from the north of the island. Anyway, the islanders make perfums from the wild flowers which naturally grow on the lava beds.
I took a shot of this rocky ground because it gave me the idea of a natural Japanese Karesansui garden. Hallucinatory delusion or reality?
Thanks for your kind comments.

Great capture, it's fascinating how terrain is different throughout the world. Thanks for that :o)))

I've always preferred lush, green landscapes, but there is a lot of beauty and color in more arid places. It does remind me of Japanese gardens. Beautiful composition and light. I like the shadows of the rocks, the lines of the roots, and the inviting path between the flowers. Lovely capture!

I was about to say: 'Kare San Sui' - which I am familiar with ... not a bad comparison though - or like walking on the Moon, as we might imagine ? BB

I love the way this looks arid, but not bleak; from the way you've captured and presented this shot, I can see that there's an extensive ecosystem in place here, but it's all contained in subtleties and faint, faint variations and not the big, jarring things we see in "wetter" environments. Hmmm...and I'm still thinking of 70 different insect species! WOW! And yeah, I do see the similarity to the Zen Rock Garden kind of vibe, and what's even more amazing is the fact that the rocks themselves look almost as if they've been arranged. They're not in a perfect circle, but they do remind me of some kind of dolmen-like structure: possibly built by one of the 70 species of insect there? Okay, maybe not, but still...it's an interesting thought. I really like this, especially that one vivid rock!

I guess you don't walk around barefoot there too much. :) Nice photo!
