Description
This poem is based on events of my childhood:
Chasing Butterflies
One of the most magical times
Of my childhood was chasing butterflies.
Back then, they seemed to be everywhere.
Fluttering through clear blue skies.
There was a large open field,
Full of many wildflowers, right next door.
I spent many hours playing in that meadow,
Where my brother and I explored.
For hours we chased butterflies
Through wide open spaces everyday.
Oh….! What wonderful memories,
Of a fun filled time in many ways.
It seems there’s not many butterflies,
To see in our modern world today.
And only a few open fields where I can
Take my grandkids so they can play.
Since today’s kids live in this changed age,
I wish those glorious days they could see.
Those wonderful times of childhood’s past,
How chasing butterflies was lots of fun for me.
