Description

It would be fair to say that Shaw never really knew what hit him. So focused was he on dispatching Anna that he completely neglected the feline furry crouched across the rotunda. So focused was he that he shut out all sound and so he missed her hiss and the cry from the sky. Such inattention to his surroundings was not typical of Shaw, for he had learned from his fight with the old elf warrior, Calum, that one should never underestimate the fae folk. But so intent was he on this obviously easy prey that he neglected to check who she had brought with her. And Anna had trained her familiars well. Neither Millicent nor Ingrid had any fear of battle and both would strike without hesitation, with no thought to their personal safety. All's they cared about was defending Anna. And they were both very, very good at what they had been trained to do. So Shaw did not see the furry blur until she was right on him, paws bearing down on his shoulders pinning his arms and her gaping jaws opening wide to rip his face off! Shaw just had time to let out a screech of shock and terror as he reeled back from the ferocious feline. Only to be struck almost senseless in the back of the head. He felt Ingrid’s talons dig deep into his skull through his cloak but he had no sense of what hit him; that is until a big black beak struck him squarely in his left eye blinding him instantly. Once engaged Anna's familiars would fight to the end. That is the way she had taught them - they were warriors. Shaw's fate had been sealed from the moment he carelessly stepped from behind the pillar, focused solely on Anna, oblivious to what else lay around him. There would be no more Mighty Shaw. The fight to take back George had begun with a swift act of vengeance by Anna's team. Now it was her turn. Previous

Excuse me, I just had to pick my jaw up off the floor! This is extraordinary, Roxy. I'm used to seeing superb posing and expressions in your images, but this is your best piece to date. I can actually feel the fury from Millicent and Ingrid as they attack Shaw, and his brief astonishment as he faces Death. Brilliant, brilliant work! As Mike said, the story is gripping. What a relief to see that her familiars intervened in time to save Anna from Shaw's dirty deed. And now we can all look forward with grim anticipation to what Anna is about to unleash on Onna. P.S. I had no idea that Millicent is so huge! I thought my kitty (who had exactly the same coloring, btw) was big, but now I think Millicent must outweigh her by a couple of hundred pounds. Yikes!

Millicent is the same size as she was in the first panel "Defending George." Different perspectives in the images may give the illusion of her changing size. Remember Millicent is Anna's steed and as such she is the size of a small poney. This is a world of fae's; animals and other beings have evolved on a different path than in our world.

Well, it just goes to prove that tunnel vision is a very dangerous (and sometimes deadly) facet of combat. One must always keep one's head on a swivel, ore one is likely to lose said head - as Shaw has discovered! How can you not see a cat that big? His arrogance has cost him the ultimate price, and deservedly so! Another stunning and beautifully done chapter, Roxy! This has it all - action, excellent expressions and poses, and a beautiful environment! I can't wait to see the next chapter - I think Anna is going to kick some butt!

My initial thoughts upon seeing this was to say 'bad kitty!'. Then I read what you wrote. 'Ah', I said, 'Good kitty!' In either case, great posing and expressions. Love the story here. Fabulous presentation.
