Description

The Engstligenalp is the biggest plateau of the western Swiss Alps. It lies south of Adelboden on 1900 - 2000 m above sea level. Since 1996 it belongs to the Swiss culture landscapes of national importance.It has the form of an oval and is covered by alpine pastures and crossed by numerous mountain streams springing from the slopes. At the exit of the valley they collect to form the Engstligen falls which cascade in of the most impressive waterfalls of the western Swiss Alps 600 m down to the Engstligen valley. Access from the north is a mule track blasted into the 600 m high rock beside the waterfalls. Since the 1920 there exists also a cable car.

This photo is a memory shot from last month's 'transhumance' , or the seasonal move of around 500 cows to the Engstligenalp which I attended , with white wine and the sound of the Alphorn to welcome the courageous followers of the cows!

Que ceux qui ne sont pas touchés par un paysage pareil se dénoncent ! C'est somptueux et ta photo est parfaite, comme toujours. Comme le temps va vers le mieux, je vais aller marcher en milieu de semaine ou dans les Ecrins ou en Vanoise/Tarentaise, ça commence à me manquer. J'ajoute que ça fait vraiment plaisir de te voir de retour.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh et Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh admiratifs ! Quand Karma revient sur RR, il met le paquet et le résultat est parfait. Attention les yeux ! J'aime bien la vue des montagnes moi aussi et je suis entièrement d'accord avec le commentaire de JC. On va voir si j'arriverai à faire aussi bien que toi lors de mes prochaines vacances : ce n'est pas si sûr si la météo ne change pas d'ici là !

This is a pristine landscape photograph which beautifully represents the majesty of nature. I am a bit disheartened, though, to see the chemical residue in the sky. Superb work.
