Description

In creating a scene to showcase my new architectural model, I felt I needed an epic image… something that really showed the scale of the architecture, so I decided on a procession. I think this image has the most figures I’ve ever used in a render. I won’t deny there wasn’t a little swearing going on in its creation as I imported batch after batch of figures and the controls became glitchier and glitcher. The completed save took over 18 minutes to write. The image only shows a small position of the model. The procession started a barely visible 4- level Ziggerat (temple) with the hanging gardens. I’ll try to post some more images that show the scope of the model better soon. Rendered in Vue 9i with very minor postwork Model credits: Woodgod for M4 (ElorOnceDark) Mediterranean Hair for M3, V3 and S3P, Victoria 3 Mediterranean Dress and Wrap, Spartan Warrior (Lourdes) M4, M3, V3, M3 Beard, Elephant, Helen of Troy Dresses (DAZ) Mitch, Glyn and Gabriel Hair (AprilYSH) Hoplite Pack for M3, Persian Army (John Mallis) Songbird Remix Owls, Hanging Hardens of Nimrud (Ken Gilliland) Sorry if I missed a model/texture credit but here’s the best I can remember…

This is really amazing work. Epic is just one word that comes to mind when viewing it. Another word that popped immediately into my mind was a bit less poetic and descriptive. It was just a plain and simple, WOW. I really love the feel of this piece, the sense that it's somewhere familiar (historically so) and otherworldly...maybe more mythic than literal. I love that feeling, especially when it comes out of something created digitally. As I often approach art from the point of view of a writer, I must say that I found myself looking at various people in the assembled crowd and wondering who they are and what their stories might be. This is something that happens only when I'm seeing a piece of artwork that is truly rich and compelling, and well...some of those other words that popped into my mind in terms of describing this photo were words like rich, compelling, intricate, and elegant. This is really fantastic work!

You have created an awesome model, but I can see how it would have strained your resources. The important thing is that you were able to save it without crashing. Good luck with this model.
