Description

Sorry for not posting recently, just been really busy with various things. Added to that I'm at a point in the Fey story where I'm having issues with what I want to do and how to do it - just not working right now. The Lord of the Abyss is also known as Ea or Enki from the Sumero-Akkadian-Babylonian pantheons. He is also called The Great Stag and The Great Serpent. He is symbolized in the zodiac sign of Capricorn as the goat-fish who brings the new sun in his horns/antlers. He is associated with the sweet-waters (non-salted) of both heaven and earth. He is, along with Ninmah or Belit-ili, the creator of mankind. He is watching the world below - not hatching plots - from behind the 'veil'. Ea was the honored advisor of the gods and the one who stood up for humans when his brother Enlil wanted to destroy the world. According to the story we were not created in his reflection but from the 'essence' of a slain god. If you are interested, these stories can be found at "Gateways to Babylon": http://gatewaystobabylon.com/ Thanks for looking all and hope you are all well and happy! Cheers

Fantastic portrait. The lighting and colors are excellent. I like the relective surface before him. He looks to be observing or hatching a plan. Cool to get the background info. Great depiction of this dark looking character.

This is a totally smashing portrayal of this diety. I love how he is contemplating the waters in the darkness. The sly, all knowing smile. Sometimes we get stuck in a story, I know I am too. A story has such promise at the begining but as we wade in it is easy to loose track of the key thread in all the weaving. And then we feel lost. Thanks for the excellent lead. They have quite a different twist on things compared to the classical literature I have read. It is an interesting and valuable site. I am surprised that Ninshubar is reduced to a minor player in their discussion, for she was Innana's vizier in many versions. And most scholars have Ereshkigal and Innana as being sisters. But at least they did not demonize Ereshkigal and they gave her due justice, which is usually not the case.

Oh dear... This portrait is pure magic! Stunning character in such an elegant pose... But it's the lights and colors that make this render truly wonderful! Vashek
