Description

With all the cell phones and VOIP it is strange to see a landline phone sign the company that put this sign up went out so many decades ago, I can't even remember when the changeover happened. I don't even think that General Telephone Company is still in business....

looks like the rest of the USA :(...i for one still have a land line and have no intention of getting a cell phone...i like the feeling of not being "connected"...somehow we managed to live for years without having a cell phone dangling from our heads 24-hrs a day :)

I hate cell phones. My husband gave me one and I don't carry it with me. Leave it home. If I wanted to babysit something I would have a kid (seems a pain always forgetting where you put it and having to plug it up all the time). I don't want to be bothered every minute of the day, anywhere I am at either. I like a bit of quiet and privacy. And I don't text, it is very impersonal. Plus I can say what I need to say faster than typing and texting is only good for when you do not want disturbing someone who may be at work imo. And the guys at work can't stay off because their wives and gf's are constantly calling. They hinder work, they hinder school kids. I hate being in a movie theater or church and someones phones rings, so disrespectful. We had a guy at work who was on a job but his wife had called and was picking a fight and he fell. Well who has to pay for the injury? The company, not the idiot on the phone when he shouldn't be. Anyway, we have a rule that people can not take their personal cell phones on the job. They have to leave them in the truck. So I still have a land line. Not to mention the people who can't talk on one and drive at the same time and even worse are the ones texting while driving. So I am not fond of them, lol.

I can remember when I was a kid riding in my dad's car, and watching endless miles and miles of telephone poles go by, fascinated by the bright blue-green glass insulators sparkling in the sun. Ahhhh... Delightful shot, Mike!
