Description

Best viewed full size for detail: These ducks showed up with their family at the pond. They let me get pretty close, but I also cropped the photos. This is one I liked, I may post more later. The parents did a lot of slashing either to freshen up, or maybe just to show the 'kids' how to do it. Soon after their display the ducklings also started to do some splashing. Notice the ducklings have black beaks, not red like the adults. I just happen to catch the one with his wings up. I do love my Canon EOS 60 D with zoom lens. Thanks for stopping by and any comments you wish to leave. Patrish About: RED-BILLED WHISTLING DUCK aka Black-bellied Whistling Duck. They do not quack, but has a descending, high whistle which sounds like its common name. The Black-bellied Whistling-duck is quite unique among ducks in their strong monogamous pair-bond. Its pairs often stay together for many years, a trait more often associated with geese and swans. Both parents share all tasks associated with the raising of young, from incubation to the rearing of ducklings.
