Description

As illustrator usually I creates artworks for book covers or magazines on demand - as you can see on my website - but I long toyed with the idea to create illustrations of classic science fiction novels to put on the royalty free market, as usual for my spare production. Here's the cover (the eleventh of my "classic sci-fi series" - take a look to the other ones in my Renderosity galley) of "Have a Space Suit Will Travel", by Robert A. Heinlein, first published in 1958. This time I've add also the book title layout to the image because it give more the feeling of a published book cover art. Rendered in Poser 7, postwork with Photoshop 7 and Dynamic-Photo HDR. The original file is 2000x3014 pixels. I loved that book! It was a strong influence on me as a young man. This cover certainly does the book justice. I think Bob Heinlein would be impressed. Bravo!

A good book, but I prefer "Starship Troopers". I'm surprised to see someone still working with M3, other than as a lo-res background figure. Very nice picture. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful setup here and an awesome background! My only real criticism is the suit itself. Heinlein's text describes the centerpiece suit as having distinctive headlights and directional antennae sprouting from its crown. While not entirely necessary in a cover(artistic license), it would be nice to have the outside imagery match the inside text.
