Description

Hi friends , thanks a lot for your visit and comments Tony The An-2 is used as a light utility transport, parachute drop aircraft, agricultural work and many other tasks suited to this large slow-flying biplane. Its slow flight and good field performance make it suited for short, unimproved fields, and some specialized variants have also been built for cold weather and other extreme environments. The Guinness Book of World Records states that the 45-year production run for the An-2 was for a time the longest ever, for any aircraft, but it was recently exceeded by the Lockheed C-130 Hercules.[1]

I love these old planes. They tend to be more reliable than the modern Soviet planes. For a time the Soviet airline Aeroflot was known by travelers as Aero Flop. Superb capture. Me encantan estos aviones viejos. Ellos tienden a ser más confiables que los aviones soviéticos modernos. Durante un tiempo la línea aérea Aeroflot soviética era conocida por los viajeros como Aero Fracaso. Capturar magníficas.

Great picture of one of my favorite planes! It's unbelievable to watch a plane this big to take-off and land on a stamp!

Antonov, this was the early forerunner that eventually led to the great Antonov 225 Mariya, a truly remarkable aircraft!

somehow, the plane seems more like a character to me in this photo than an object. i get a feeling of optimism and industriousness. from what you wrote, i'm guessing that's fitting. i like the vintage treatment.
