Description

Of course Yogyakarta was another place with wonderful works of art just begging me to take them home. When I visited, Jelan Malioboro was a street filled with little shops. You could stop in at the shoemaker's and have your feet measured and then pick up a handmade custom pair of boots the next day. There were shops that specialized in tooled leather. There were carvings and silver. Today I understand Malioboro is one solid mall. Here is an image of a deer horn carving showing the demon widow Rangda. The second set of images show a trishaw and its driver. The wheels turn. All these years later I am still amazed by the delicate detail in this piece.

Such talent! Something appeals to me about Rangda. Demon widow, eh? How about Demon Divorcee.. I could have a new bridge of front teeth.. and then maybe purchase a trike..
