Hi, I'm Marilyn. Ă‚Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Ă‚Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Ă‚Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Ă‚Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Ă‚Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Ă‚Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Ă‚Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Ă‚Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Nice job Marilyn. I can see this photo hanging on my grandmother's wall...probably as a painting. Like your postwork...caravaggio filter maybe? It is one of my favorites to work in when I can.

I love that deep roar too, as well as the smell of the moisture in the air. Beautiful capture!

Excellent DOF and effects in this nature picture, Marilyn. Incidentally, I heard on the radio this morning that some 29-year old gal recently fell 600 feet to her death in trying to negotiate around the top of the falls.

I could easily live in a place like that! I'm due for a move anyway! I love this shot. It's so amazingly "graphic" in the way that the best book covers are. I can't hear the waterfall from here (as this is a still shot) but I have some clue as to it's grandeur...you've captured it so well! I love that silhouetted tree trunk and branches too...this whole shot is quite compelling!

I can't believe how long it's been since you showed me this picture. Where on earth did the past few days GO? I'm just now catching up. This is an outstanding image ... your postwork is beautifully painterly. Gorgeous work!

What a sight to behold. I can sense its raw power just from this image. I can not even imagine how it must be to feel it first hand. We are always dwarfed by the works of nature and the raw power of this planet.
