Description

As illustrator usually I creates artworks for book covers or magazines on demand - as you can see on my website - but I long toyed with the idea to create illustrations of classic science fiction novels to put on the royalty free market, as usual for my spare production. Here's the cover (the thirteenth of my "classic sci-fi series" - take a look to the other ones in my Renderosity galley) of "The Mightiest Machine", a classic hard science fiction novel by John W. Campbell, first published in 1947. The hero of the story is Aarn Munro. He was born on Jupiter, parents voluntarily stranded for 20 years because early chemical rockets could get them down but not back off the surface. He's five feet seven inches tall, and almost five feet in circumference, weighing well over 300 pounds. Immensely strong, combative, and a genius in physics and space travel, he is one of Campbell's more interesting characters. This time I've add also the book title layout to the image because it give more the feeling of a published book cover art. Rendered in Poser 7, postwork with Photoshop 7 and Dynamic-Photo HDR. The original file is 2000x3014 pixels. Very interesting concept, and a wonderful cover to go with it. You really are a Master at this type of this image, Luca. The Freak is a perfect choice for this character, too. I like how you assembled the pieces for this image - they all fit together perfectly. Bravo!
