Hello:
My name is D. Jay Newman (the "D." is silent), but please just call me Jay.
I am currently learning to model and texture and hopefully rig for poser. My modeling interests are mainly science fiction/science fantasy.
My "job" is full-time caregiver for my wife who is suffering a long-term highly debilitating disease. IÂ quit my job as a systems programmer/analyst for Penn State in order to do this. However, this leaves me a lot of time on my hands for various things.
Most people seem to wonder how others get into 3d graphics. In my case it is because IÂ run a free on-line science/fantasy RPG for some friends (http://www.penguinflys.com/evergreen/) and I wanted to create avatars for my players even though IÂ had no graphics talent at all. Eventually IÂ worked my way up to Poser and now I can create pretty pictures for my game. I'm even thinking about doing a web-comic if IÂ can get enough time.
After IÂ got addicted to Poser, IÂ decided to try learning modeling so that IÂ can create my own items - hopefully for sale. I'm using Modo 401 for modeling and IÂ love this program. Hopefully you will see me as a seller one of these days.
Have a nice day (or not, if it pleases you - who am IÂ to tell you how to live your life?) :)

YEAH BABY!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALK'N BOUT! - LOL Ya know, You're the first one to paste their face after my request on my upload... but.... I gotta tell ya, I read your shirt and I don't fear the bird... no sorry, no..... I fear the bird turd = lol.... and the funny thing is, today I was in a sport where a crow was above my head mouthing off and I had to pick something up right under it... as I got to the spot I saw bird crap just inches away from where I had to go - I got in, got out fast... yeah, I fear the bird turd = lol

A very kind face but it needs more happiness in it. Where is the smile and the joy in your eyes?
DangerousThing
Mike: If you've ever had a parrot, you might fear the bird a bit - they can bite! And the name "NerdBird" is actually my parrot's name that I've appropriated. BTW: "Fear the Bird" comes from a University of Delaware T-Shirt - their football team is "The Fighting Blue Hens". MrsLubner: When I was making the picture for my avatar, I was going "grrr" to be more in line with the shirt. Also it was taken by Lee in her wheelchair, so the image looks like I'm taller than I am (I'm really 5' 2" or so). And I remember joy and happiness but I'm not feeling that way right now. Maybe later.

give them the bird for not understanding the family comes first.
DangerousThing
TallPockets: Actually, Lee started singing "The Bird, the Bird, the Bird is a Nerd..." to the tune of the "Surfing Bird" song and hence Random the parrot become Random Eeee NerdBird, normally called just "Nerd" or "NerdBird." Redflame: And yes, I've never understood it when people chose otherwise. Of course, we had enough savings and Lee had disability which barely manages to keep us going. I do understand that some people just can't afford to quit their job.
