Description

Their scientific name is psilocybin. In western countries they are known as magic mushrooms. I have only tried them once and that was in Parangtritis. In the morning young boys would come by with large leaves folded into cones and filled with small brown mushrooms. I later learned these were members of the Copelandia genus. You could buy the whole cone for a few dollars and the landlady would fry them up in a breakfast of scrambled eggs. Not knowing what I was in for I bought half a cone. The eggs were delicious. I waited for something to happen but other than a mild light headedness I was not impressed. Not impressed, that is, until I walked outside and the sunlight hit my eyes. The colors were vivid and fluid. Some, I'm convinced, were outside the normal color spectrum. Check out FaeMike's upload "What am I? #2" That will begin, in a small way, to show you what I was seeing (BTW - I've been meaning to ask you about that Mike). I decided to take a walk on the beach. And then I noticed the beach was moving. I quickly realized this was result of hundreds of tiny crabs no bigger than a pencil eraser. They had emerged from the sand and appeared to be headed for the ocean. Evidence of their labors was everywhere. I went back to my lodging and slept for most of the day. When I returned to Yogyakarta I had a better understanding of how these local artists got some of their ideas.

So interesting to learn about your experience. I have an absolute horror of not being in control of myself, so I have avoided most drugs although surrounded in my youth by people who felt otherwise. These patterns are amazing: and to think they are just the result of sand 'filtering', as it were. I see a cat and a dog, or maybe a mermaid.
