Description
For those that asked, this is what a glacier looks like from above. This is the Taku Glacier as it reaches the mouth of the Taku Inlet and the Pacific Ocean. Note all the muddy silt seeping out from underneath the glacier. That is actually ground up rock that is created by the moving glacial ice. It is as fine as the flour that is used to make a cake. Most people go on vacation and take a sightseeing bus tour. In Alaska, you rent a plane and a bush pilot and go flightseeing. With attached pontoons on the planes, they will even land in a lake for you. July 1986 photo was scanned. Zoom is a must on this one. You could drop a house in most of those crevasses.
