Description

I had a couple of characters in the courtyard but it took away from the hopeless feeling I was trying to capture. Comments most welcome - they're why I post! Update 10/18 - Just to let you know I take the comments seriously I've changed the rust on the bars and used geometry for the blocks in the window wall. Some times I get caught up in the mechanics of the image and over look the obvious. -Thanks Byron

Very good scene.... bars could look a little more rusty, but still an excellent scene....

Excellent. If it were mine - I wish I could - I'd do some post work on the very sharp edges of the cellar window. Maybe because it's close-up you could actually build it with geometry to describe the bricks.

Always amazed by your work! Wonderful! The depth of field adds to the hopeless feeling. The hands are to clean and strong to be hopeless. I'm a fan!!

Very nice image. One minor point, there is no dust / dirt on the floor. The feeling in this pic is ok.

Good work. But you need to spent more time on lights and shadows. The scene is too bright and thus most shadows are incorrect. As i suppose, you used at least 2 lights (or group of lights), which are confronting each other, killing most shadows, creating "self-illumination" effect on big part of the geometry. Try using one main direct light (sun), ambient light about 15-20, and several Omni lights scattered throw scene with enabled "ambient" feature. AS about materials, add more dust and dirt!

Good one. It has the look of difuse lighting, such as thick grey cloud cover.
