Description


This is a closer look of "Northouse" or the native American name of "Hlauumo". This is the Taos Pueblo located in Taos, New Mexico. About 150 Native Americans still live In these structures making them one of the oldest continuosly inhabited communities in the USA. Wall are several feet thick. The roofs of each of 5 stories are supported by large timbers called Vigas hauled down from the mountains. smaller pieces of wood Pine or Aspen called latillas are lined up side by side over the top of the Vigas then covered by packed dirt. No running water or electricity. Thanks for stopping by.

I went just one time to Taos pueblo and really like it. These indian pueblos are very interesting. This is great photo that you post here, beautiful.

A very beautiful shot and a nice reminder of these Native Americans who live there. I'm impressed with their way of life, when we use so much energy and water : we should learn from them how to live in harmony with nature and environment because we're wrong and they're right !
