Please Zoom :) A big thank you to Margot for her beautiful Peridot character. I was thinking of what to do with her and she is so classic and regal that this is what I kept imagining. :-) I like this very much, Delaney. It is a complete work. By this I mean that you have worked equally on all aspects of the piece until each is evenly finished. Sometimes we are so happy with a certain intention or favorite element that we simply call it "done" .. although we have not actually finished our supper. ;-) The first aspect that captures my attention and wins me over is the perspective. We are voyeurs here .. peering into a scene from a fair distance .. a scene which we, being mortal, have no rights to be observing. Ah.. but that's an enjoyable function of art. I like that the foliage spills out over the scene via the border element; this enhances the bond between viewer and subject. The depth of the scene also heightens the dynamism of the work. From the border to the goddess .. into the tree and on to the starlit sky .. you have created a rich environment that breathes with life. At last the goddess herself enchants me. She is as one with her surroundings, as she would be. The free expression of nature within her posture lends an authentic character quality that is delightful to view. That she is a goddess is conveyed in subtle manners. Such a light touch appeals to my senses because there is pleanty of room for engagement with the work .. and engagement is precisely what you are so finely offering here. Deeply enjoyable craft. You did a FINE job with her, the pose looks relaxed, I like that. the frame and the leafs are really nice. and the dress I was planning on getting if I placed in the still life contest, but didn't... I'll have to get it later on down the road - I like this dress.

Your work exudes great artistry and a well-formed concept from the way you angled the view and her pose reaching out to cast her magic spell. This image reminds me of old folk tales that keep our ancestors entertained without the luxury of computers and TV shows but just pure and poetic imagination that puts together well loved stories that until now we still enjoy listening to.
