Description
The B24 which was produced in numbers more than any other Americn aircraft started life in combat with 120 Squadron with the RAF Coastal Command. The first batch of aircraft delivered to the RAf was found uncombat worthy by them. No self sealing fuel tanks, lack of armor and several other deficiencies resulted in them being relegated to other than combat roles. With one exception.
The range of the Liberator was twice that of any other British aircraft. This made them ideal for anti submarine warfare, capable of closing down the gap that exisited in the Atalanic for convoy protection. Thus the Mark1 Liberator came into being. Fitted by Scottish Air with ASV radar and a four pack of 20mm guns under the forward bomb bay the first aircraft entered the war.
120 Squadron counted fourteen confirmed kills, three assists and eight damgaged U Boats by the end of the war. After the Liberators began operating, U Boats which normally surfaced during the hours of darkness to charge their batteries found to their surprise that they were being targeted in the dark. This led to them going back to days to recharge their batteries until a counter measure could be made.

Now as you all know, Osper Enterprises strives for accuracy in all our stuff. So I had them take Neils B24 back to original configuration. This proved to be far more difficult than first thought. So......the question is what do I do with the additional/left over turrets, over 600 lbs of armor and especially the the self sealing fuel tanks that now are piled against my back fence? ;)

Well done on this work! The Lib by Neil was good anyway and you make another good Mk! Great picture.. :-) As for the left overs? Well you could fit them to your house? You'd get no trouble from looters, burglars, troublemakers and generally anybody you didn't like! lol Rob
