Description

my dear old dad Joseph set up one of the first weightlifting gyms in the country many many years ago and these dumbells were from his gym...they were all made of lead and hand made at that. Fast fwd 50 years and they are now props that I use for muscle shoots. Lee Priest once again the model..... what a body....not everybody's cup of tea but for some - perfection! This is stunning and I'm just as impressed with the background as I am with the model in the foreground. Often, it's the details that make shots like these, more than the overt focus and you've nailed every part of this perfectly! I can't say that I'm much into this sort of body modification, but I do rather like it for it's "low tech" approach, and it's clear that there is a particular aesthetic. I'd like it much more without the oily bronzer (that stuff's hard to mop up, especially if it's coated with Pam cooking spray...yeah, I had to do cleanup after a few body-builder shows...and maybe I'm telling too much here, but there you have it. This is excellent work, nicely crisp and I do rather like the "ripped" muscles and the texture of the stuff under the skin. Marvelous lighting and those authentic lead weights just add...well...so much more delicious weight to this image.

An incredible shot Carl!! The way the light has been used to accentuate his physique is just masterly! The old dumbells just add so much character to the shot!
