Description
greetings on this beautiful full moon evening my favourite nite of the month. i thought i would share one of my insect photos this evening. i really have a thing for dragonflys. i'm not really sure what this is, haven't had a chance to look it up. if you know let me know. i think my buddleia is attracting it. i love the hair on it and those wacky looking feet. i did a little postwork but not much and again my old cheap camera has shocked me. i finally got some new batteries for my pentax so i'll be using it again soon. hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. enjoy the full moon and i hope it is visible where ever you are on this planet...it is lovely

WOW! WOW! I've never seen a person like this before--and according to the insects I'm familiar with, all six-legged life forms are people. Okay, all rants aside, this is a stunning shot of a creature I've never seen before, and it's an impressive one. I love the details and the colors and that long, aerodynamic abdomen. Nicely developed wing muscles on this little person-thingie too. Marvelous! Simply a stunning, beautiful, detailed, intriguing shot. Most definitely a favorite. It's a fly of some sort but I can't tell exactly what kind: a hairy and slender one, that's for sure. This is super. It's making a trip into my favorites.

Focus isn't quite as sharp as you'd want it. Yet that's not always easy to do, particularly if the AF doesn't want to get a lock or you're too close for the lens's range. Manual focus isn't exactly easy to get tack sharp either, and moving the hand on the lens ring may scare off the subject. Been there and done that. Looks like some kind of robber fly. They look a little odd or scary, but usually they eat other insects and leave people alone. Thus they should be left alone since they're one of the "good" bugs. Your pic does have enough detail that somebody at bugguide.net could probably tell you the exact species if you posted there.

I agree with Paul focus is off, but still you got some amazing details.

going by your statement that this was taken with your 'old, cheap camera' you did quite well

it is a robber fly.they makes lots of noise but do not bite. I still do not like them but I would take a picture if I ever see one again

Yes, the focus is a bit off, but a good composition of all the working parts.
