Description

(The English translation of the title is: Here is the guardian of the temple of life and death.) An ancient Sumerian legend tells of a goddess, guardian of a temple, who asked to anyone wishing to enter there if he was willing to sacrifice himself to live or to die. In both cases, there would be a price to pay, and this was no money or other material richness. There are so many things that money can not pay or reach! About the stone represented in the scene as a monolith, it is a temple hymn to Iddin-Dagan, king of Larsa, cuneiform (Sumerian script) inscripted clay from ca. 1950 BC. Current located in the Department of Oriental Antiquities of Louvre Museum, Paris, France.
