It's easy to see the steps from this contraption to our modern washers. Wood to metal, add electricity, slap on a lid, and you're good to go!

I can just imagine the 'Washerwomen' doing their laundry. Nice capture.

Very cool capture Juliette. I'm pretty sure none of the machines built today will still be operational in 100 years from now.

Leuke plaat. Beetje lastig in een moderne woning, maar deze machine was waarschijnlijk bedoeld voor welgestelden.

an old-fashioned laundry! My first machine seemed almost the same to this, a wooden tub with a mangle on it. Brings back a lot of memories, great picture! een ouderwetse wasserette! mijn eerste wasmachine leek hierop, een houten kuip met een wringer er op. Ik ruik de sulight-zeep als ik dit zie. Mooi tijdsbeeld! RS

Excellent captures of this way of washing but I am really glad that I don't have to do my washing like this.

It IS easy to see the steps of progression, from then to now. This reminds me quite a bit of the old washing machines from my childhood, my mother had quite an advanced one with wringers on it to squeeze the water out of the clothes, LOL!!
