Description

The extent of pre-WW2 experimentation in early stealth technology is revealed in this recently declassified image. Believe it or not, during testing, servicemen proved unable to see the large four-engined Martin flying boat in this scene, Unfortunately, there were serious practical hurdles to overcome before widespread roll-out of the technology, since it also rendered commanding officers almost totally inaudible. The USAAF adopted elements of the scheme in nose art, but after a series of unfortunate accidents at a secret test site nothing came of the proposal to paint a 100 metre long brunette on the deck of the USS Yorktown.... ;-) The background shows my 30's-Era Martin 130 model rendered in Vue. Thanks for viewing...
