Description

In a few days it will be our Spring and as time will have it - one must attend to those earthly pleasures of digging a bit deeper - into the garden soil! Prep-work is important you know? if you want to harvest some goodies! I couldn't believe the amount of worms I came across and accidentally chopping some of them in half ... YIKES and with a: 'sooo sorry Meesta or Missus Womb!' - I couldn't even tell the difference between front or rear, or male and female ? Can you ? ... and they are so fast and don't seem to like sun nor daylight - maybe they just like mooning each other ? *** a bit of the old 'Crosshatch filter' was used to enhance these Critters. Cheers *BB* (aka Brigitte)

I don't think they can tell the difference either. Supposedly they grow back the lost part. They are also supposed to be good for the soil. Great post work. It gives a very interesting texture to the soil.

Very nice capture- the highlights are a bit blown out though, clipping to white and eliminating detail- this can be mitigated by manually controlling exposure. Otherwise, a very opportune capture!

Well, apparently they aren't faster than a speeding shovel! Heh that reminds me of a line my roomie said (refering to his niece's shitzu-rat-rodent-dog-mini-thing) "Either that's it's face or its ass just blinked at me!"

This just has to be your pic, Brigitte! Hehe! They have a most interesting sex-life, I believe. We are at the end of what has been laughingly called our 'summer', but I'm hoping for a pleasant and sunny September and October. I have been plagued in my patch by slugs the size of surf kayaks. Makes walking barefoot in the dark a no-no.

Worms are needed for the health of the soil and they usually grow new 'ends' quite quickly so you have probably doubled the population Brigitte! Super shot.

Slippery little suckers, I should know as I was the Worm Wrangler for this shoot ! Kool capture and postwork effect, I think JD missed the mark, cause that's what that Photoshop filter does and it also enhanced the soil texture no end...DOH ! Worm-a-rific BB & ~Cheers~

This is something uncanny, but so well depicted, it looks like a submarine(under-sea) picture recording. You see so many details. Again you have my brain encouraged to fantasize, what I can figure out what is happening in that photo, chuckle. Shame just by stabbing worms, you murderer of the underground LOL! Stay well my dear friend :)

A great capture of these worms and your title says it all. They are so important in the garden to keep the soil fertile that they probably deserve to be treated like princes and princesses and not chopped with the spade. Pretty hard not to though. I like how you have used the filter it just adds to the photo.

Great capture and nice effect, Brigitte! Worms has together with ants the big job to dig tunnels and turn the soil upside down and then create both air and more possibility for life under our feet! :o)

Great shot and postwork! His Worminess might be a little irritated at the shovel, but it's allot better than a fish hook. Great selective color, texture, and detail of the segments. I was curious about what earthworms did in the very dry conditions we've had lately. I found an interesting site, which about half way down, told me. It's here. http://www.backyardnature.net/earthwrm.htm
