Description
The final layout art for the opening page spread of "The Ring Saga, Book I: Curse of the Rhinegold", a four-volume illustrated novel based on Wagner's Ring cycle.
The overall look of this piece was intended to invoke the feel of a watercolor painting, which seemed appropriate given its content. The main Rhinemaiden character, as well as all background props, were rendered in Poser, with the remaining landscape being created during postwork in Photoshop, using painted backgrounds and overlays.
For the Viking ship prop and Rhinemaiden character models I used a lot of custom morphs and texturing to add such things as rot and moss to the boat and fins and fish scales to the female figure. Over a hundred models, textures and layers were used to build the final image.

You have a superb style, very creative, very orignal. Bravo for your work. And I agree with Vashek. It's interesting to hear of your work on Beowulf. A looong time ago,at university, I studied Old English and Beowulf was in the list.My edition of Beowulf is prefaced by Tolkien ! :) Thank you for sharing your excellent work. Odile
