Description

Poulnabrone Portal Tomb, Co. Clare is one of the most photographed places in Ireland, so needless to say living in Wiltshire for the past 38 years, on and off, this place is fascinating to me. Being of similar in age to Stonehenge some 4000 BC the capstone being 12 foot by 7 feet again wonder how Bronze age man lifted it into place.. The Burren where this forms part of the landscape is very unusual, being full of limestone and rare plants.. It was one of the areas I explored this year and I have many more shots to follow, with a large series of Irish scapes I hope you will enjoy.

reportedly, such things were used by the "primitive" ancestors to control the weather in the area... excellent capture, Dan!
