Great capture, Richard. We had none of these in the forties and fifties in Britain, and definitely not in Scotland's pits and steel works 'Central Belt' where I grew up. Trams, buses and heavy lorries were to be seen. Where I spent most of my summer holidays, with family, the farmers had a tractor and trailer. No cars. Only the doctor had one. Only the travelling shop / butchers / bakers / postman had access to a van, and they couldn't make it up most of the steep slopes around the coastal communities, so vehicles were usually not seen for days at a time. Even the priest had a bicycle. Smaller 'estate wagons' started to appear in the late 1960s. Much of the wood panelling would have been on the dashboard, or inside door panels in e.g. the Austin Rover 90s etc. Warm regards, from a damp, chilly, Glasgow. 15 days now of falling leaves. Autumn has started early, John.

Great looking specimen of the wood genre. These were popular with surfers in the sixties here in southern California. Well done.
