I wanted to do a scene of tension where the woman’s desire is made of envy and loneliness. She sits at her beach cabin, ¾ facing the sea and looks into the distance swimmers. The scene on the right is the fruit of her imagination and her desire. As in 1930, human relations, and probably even more on the beaches, were less easily than today because more codified, this young woman dreams about her prince charming which makes her blush. The most perceptive of you will notice how I use the opposite direction of the sun to mark the shot / reverse shot between the real and the fantasy scene. This image allowed me to look for different textures of skin and clothing. Finally this scene of waiting is structured by a large W, which builds the composition.
