There is something deliciously atavistic about heavy metal guys--it's something filtered through something else, and its always striking. I love the more contemplative vibe of this shot; the heavy metal look isn't often associated with anything contemplative (and unfortunately, too much heavy metal is influenced by heaviness and metal and not much in between.) This is a bold and compelling piece of photographic work simply because it shows a different take on a general subject. Of course, the subject here is human and that makes a huge difference as well. I love the abstract, blue patterns as well. Gorgeous work, and yes, Adam is quite handsome: his downward focus, contemplative expression, long hair, and almost totemic pendant gives this image a timeless, mythic quality, and for me, that's always a good thing.
