It'd been a long, hard fight but the tankers of the 301st Mecha-Troopers Fire-Support Battalion finaly had a chance to replenish and re-arm. 3 days of continuous combat in the jungle had left the men exhausted and machines low on munitions and power.... now they were completing a cycle and only a few hands were on watch. There was a low mechanical whir as the sensor mast over the Captain's head panned slowly back and forth... a buzzing insect of some sort zipped past his ear as he stared hard through his binoculars at the jungle around him... Suddenly there was a soft electronic pop in his head-phones. "Targets detected, range 26000 meters... confirmation of target aquisition required... waiting...", the on-board AI informed him. There was a hum, increasing in volume, and the vibrations through the soles of his boots told the Captain that the computer was bringing the mains online to combat power... Over his shoulder, one of the crew signaled to the machines further ahead in the bush and the loaders paused, shells still in hand as they too became aware that something was happening...
