Description

She doesn't cry, she remains regal in her throne but she is filled with regret. What could she have done differently? Perhaps she's thinking of her lost loves (if they were truly more love than business) Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. Did she know that Egypt, as she knew it, would end with her death? Still, it was a far more fitting fate than being dragged through the streets of Rome in chains. Inspired by the legend of Cleopatra. I say "legend" because no one really knows exactly how she died. Also, this isn't based on the movie though I love the 1963 movie. The real Cleopatra was no Elizabeth Taylor (it was her mind that was her most attractive feature) so I tried to go for a less "movie star" look and something a little more unique.

One of the very best Cleopatra renditions I've seen - bar none! An excellent interpretation of the legendary last moments of her reign. Magnificent, Lizzie!

While the "legend" you have rendered does persist it's much more likely that she imbibed a plant based poison with surer and less painful results than the bite of an asp. Still a very nicely done image.

Well done. I tend to avoid the cinematic versions of Cleopatra, though I'm taken by the version of her depicted in the HBO series, Rome. Her death was as legend tells us--delivered by the fangs of an asp, but the way in which the actress (not a very Cleopatra-looking woman) played the scene was marvelous. It was written well, especially since a number of time-period and culture-specific references were loaded into her performance. Okay, enough of that: what an image! I love the subtle hint of what's happened...the bite marks on her chest, her sad expression. Great details and I love the Egyptian wig, recalling the wings of Nekhbet. Nice.

An extremely well crafted scene, and a very nice artistic interpretation of the legend of her death. You have definitely captured the pathos of the moment here. Bravo!
