My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Well spotted Tara and great that it's in B&W.

Great composition Tara and black & white somehow adds to the overall image!

Superb, especially the texture on the disc of Tufnel or whatever. For a moment I felt I could smell it. I share your pleasure..thankyou!

Not boring to me as I just photographed the rollout of a partially restored B-25 Mitchell last Saturday. Having been all over it, I have no idea where this pulley might be located or what it is for. Something yet to be added to ours I guess. BTW, I like your close shots of parts of aircraft, because besides the regular complete photos that museums want, I am often photographing the small bits. Works on locomotives too if you can ever find a clean one!

Awesome macro, love the sepia tone, really sets the mood well- thanks for sharing! :)

I noticed the texture on the pulley as well. I found the two cotter pins, so precisely bent into little 'M' shapes, fascinating. Black and white was a great choice. After all, World War II was in black and white. Let me explain. When I was a child I asked my father why all the movies made when he was young were in black and white. He told me that was before the invention of color. Not in the movies, in the world. My father was quite the jokester. And I narrowly avoided years of therapy. {;D

Yes, and it is a beautiful abstract Tara :-)

Keep doing what you're doing! I find it fascinating! Great photo. The texture on the pulley is really cool, almost composite-looking instead of metal.

I have to agree with the others and you - sometimes these little detail shots stand on their own - I think this is one of those times - we know we're looking at something mechanic but the lines nad textures and DOF make it almost abstract. Keep doing what your doing, I enjoy them all.

In addition to all the goodies mentioned above, I am into cotton rope(?). Look at the texture of the rope...reminds me of my mother's clothes line;-) All kidding aside, I love this type of image from you...I am always amazed at what you see that I just waltz by looking for wings and fuselages and canopies, etc. Your B-25 series is just the beginning...we'll have to find you a B-17 next. Right Neil???

What's it for???? It's for you take a picture of!!!

excellent capture; b&w makes it more abstract

Too true Bill ! This is fascinating, appears to be still in the nose, but no idea what this does, unless it supports a machine gun?...it's a Tara Teaser, your abstract views are always so entertaining and this is excellent in monochrome.

A wonderful collection of shapes and angles, light and shadows. I love how you do these!

Looks like an amazing abstract. Well done !

We need to find you a nice C5A or C17 - or maybe an Antanov(sp?). I'll bet you could spend a month with any one of those! LOL! And I'll bet you'd find all kinds of fascinating abstract little details most of us wouldn't see if they were right in front of us. You never cease to amaze me with your unique vision, Tara. My hat is off to you, dear friend!

For some reason, a pulley with a rope seems SO unlikely on a jet. Makes this shot even more appealing!!
