Description

The Fairmont Empress Hotel is one of the oldest and most famous hotels in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Government Street facing the Inner Harbor. After a four year construction period it opened on January 23, 1908. Additions and modifications have been done since then and it currently has 477 rooms. In the past the 'Empress' has played hostess to kings, queens, movie stars and many famous people. During the summer months, the hotel serves tea, along with tea sandwiches, fresh scones, preserves and Jersey Cream in the 'Tea Lobby' to more than 800 guests and tourists. Afternoon tea is approximately CAD $60 per person. This picture was taken on 30 May 2009, Sig...

Beautifully composed, Sig. And fascinating info. Sixty Canadian dollars for afternoon tea! (I'll have to try to find a coupon, I think....) Great shot!

A wonderful capture of this beautiful place. I love the climber on the walls to soften it. Sounds like a great tea though a little expensive.
