Now that the "New Tarakina IV" set is mostly done, I have started to work on some of the characters that inhabit the place. Here is number 1: Dr. Jose Cruz. Xeno-biologist. He is wearing an environmental protection suit. The atmosphere has a higher average pressure than on earth and contains several toxic gases and very little oxygen. His suit is equipped with a backpack that removes toxic components and adds oxygen from a compressed reservoir. Depending on the amount of physical activity, this allows the explorer to roam independently for up to to 20h. We can see him in the field, next to one of the many species of fungi that are found on this world. Even though life on New Tarakina IV has many similarities to life on earth, the biochemistry is quite different. For example, even though the genetic code also uses four letters (bases of nucleic acids) and uses three of those to code for amino acids, the letters are different and instead of 20, there are 27 different amino acids and only 11 of those are identical to those used in life on earth.
