Description

I love this flower and I love the smell of it too. They remind me of my dear mother, as I picked up a big bouquet of them for her every season, because she loved them so much. So this could be a tribute to her. :) Sorry I forgot the name of this flower, but I bet Andrea knows :))) THANKS to Andrea, I now know its real name Tansy. What a beautiful Name :-)Thanks alot Andrea :D Hope you are having a beautiful Weekend. We have had a wonderful summer-like weather today. Thank you so much for viewing, comments and favs to my previous post. It is Highly appreciated :)

It's called Tansy, Tanacetum vulgare. I love your shot of this, Helle! "This plant has strongly aromatic dark green leaves which were once popular as a flavouring, particularly for egg dishes. When baking a cake, cooks regarded tansy as a fine alternative to very expensive imported spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon, and at Easter tansy cake was popular until comparatively recent times. The scent is SO strong that even at the time it was in use as a flavouring it was also used as a repellent to keep mice from corn and flies from meat! The 17th century herbalist Nicholas Culpeper recommended it as a preventer of miscarriages, a mouthwash, eyelotion and cosmetic, amongst many other applications!!! The genus name 'tanacetum' and the common name tansy both derive from the Greek word for immortality, for in addition to its manifold virtues it was believed to confer eternal life to those who drank an infusion of it." Perhaps! (Information from Wild Flowers of Britain, pub Readers Digest.)

A beautiful capture, and also a nice dedi for your mom, dear friend. Yes, Tansy this is called in English, we call it "Boerewormkruid". You could make tea from it. I use it against mots (dried in the wardrobe, between the clothes).

What a gorgeous shot. I love the way they bloom in clusters. They have the look of some kind of abstract sculpture. I love the intense, sunny yellow. I can see how a bouquet of these would be highly valued; they would brighten up a room nicely! I want to smell them now, and so I'll have to see if they grown anywhere in or near Chicago. This is a beautiful capture. Truly lovely.

Very beautiful! Excellent composition, dof, and light. I love that the flowers are packed together in groupings with distance between them, sort of like pods in a space station. I imagine an artist creating a space settlement could get some inspiration here. The background is a beautiful compliment to the flowers with the dark tree to the left, the red spotted one on the right, and the beautiful view through them to the field and distant trees. I like the light on the grasses and the rich green and definition of the tansy leaves in the foreground. Beautiful capture!
