Description

This is just a small part of the Medical Science Museum in Melbourne. They have all manner of preserved human body parts and other strange things in jars on display, as well as pieces of old medical equipment etc. The even have a display of an old criminal who had his body sliced into incredibly fine cross sections for medical research purposes.

Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry had a cross section sliced guy too...I was always fascinated by him, and then they moved him. I love the intensity of this image: those colors, the things on display, especially the open torso which, to me, seems to say: No guts, no glory! I'd love to visit this place!

Naw, I'm not squeamish! I did, however, take notice that someone has finally found a gallery that uses a background color similar to Renderosity...but NOT the same! Even theirs would be more tolerable than what is here, but the discordant rants seem to have trailed off, BUT NOT MINE!

I must make time to visit our local museums. Don't think they will be as gruesome as this though.

I am a bit squeamish when it comes to medical museums but I can recommend a very good torture museum in Rothenburg (my favorite town in Germany). Here's a quick LINK.

Now here's a place to arrange a blind date :-) Don't think I've ever seen a place like this, didn't know they had such places for people outside the medical profession.I'm now fascinated, will have to see if we have something similar over here. Great post, to say your gallery is diverse is such an understatement, always something of interest....thanks.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Gutsy place. Very brainy. Filled with plenty of heart and a whole lot of backbone. A good place to vent your spleen. I could go on... This is a very interesting shot of what is obviously a fascinating place. We had a sliced man here at one point too, along with a whole bunch of sliced ex-animate creatures. Chip kept trying to get me to go to the exhibit but I wasn't in any great hurry to hurl my lunch, so I took a pass. The scientist in me finds this all fascinating. The wimp in me is like a teenage girl going "Oh, gross!" And then I watch "The Silence of the Lambs" and eat popcorn. Go figure.
