for us, the throat chakra was always seen as the first chakra above the 'meeting chamber' for all chakric energies: the heart. And it starts the journey to the highest places...It therefore has that special air of generating all creativity, song, voice, words, etc. Even art gets some of its impetus from this place, as art is guided in a very subtle way by the inner voice. You've surrounded it by music, the most dramatic manifestation of 'visuddha' (but then music, at that level, is also seen at the center of poetry, voice, dance, etc). And you've used a lot of the purple & blue hues commonly associated with the region. The cello gives your image a recognizable form for all of us in the West (some might find it harder, for instance, to relate to a Vina from India, or say one of the varieties of Japanese flute). But the cello merges with her body, with your straight strokes drawing her downwards into a kind of core place. And of course you used the recognizable forms of notes, again so familiar to all of us in the west. So hard to visualize music, even though so much of your imagery does just that. But you've given it wholly recognizable forms here, and they morph into the hues that this whole series swims in. Your blues & violets, here punctuated with some beautiful reds & yellows. And you have the light concentrated at her throat. In the deepest realms of Indian thought, the chakras don't sit at the corresponding places in the body (like the throat, here), but rather, those places in the body emanate from the chakras, the chakras being not 'places' but coagulations of consciousness, which in deep meditation is like a vast ocean. One of the things I love about this series is how you concretize these oceans into sensual beauty. The inner journey feels, many times, like a vast flower blooming, and that is very sensual. Another sensual & passionate entry into this series, Carol...
