Description

"In the soft light of the morning, the knight is off, on his own and with an uncertain journey ahead. A new horse and some more practical clothes for the trip." #7 in my series with the nobleman's son and his escorte/guardian.

thumb_2186988.jpg Toolbox: Vue, Poser, Onyxtree, Xfrog and Photoshop. Items from DAZ, C3D, 3D Warehouse and myself. In my last post, someone commented on the speculars/highlights, suggesting that I should tweak the textures in Vue. Well, I always do that, and never use the Poser shader tree. In fact I don't even import the Poser scenes, but export as Collada from Poser 7, many benefits in that... The look is intentional, and you may disagree or dislike it, but it is not "wrong". Nothing in art is "wrong" when it is the result of a deliberate choice. Thanks for viewing - comments always welcome and appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars

This is really fantastic Lars, I love the softness of everything and how complete the scene is, with the sheep, sheep herder, village, fields and forested hills beyond. Your work is very amazing and always a pleasure.

Excellent. Also helps that I'm currently listening to the Excalibur soundtrack.

I love studying your scenes. What appears simple at first glance yeilds rich diversity and realism... and the way the composition draws your eye in. This is how it's done!

Beautiful! I especially love the soft lighting. Superb work as usual. Thanks for the tip on Collada I use it in SketchUp but never thought about using it in Poser.

i love this scene. you succeeded in giving it a very early morning feel. in respects to the highlights, the issue, i think, is that the materials were so different from your usually realistic work. they looked very plasticky and different than other parts of the scene. which isn't objectively wrong, but it's so far from your usual work that one could be mistake it for being "wrong." the materials here look great, but all the elements in question are lit mainly by indirect light. to me, the environment does look very realistic. and the sunlight on the ground looks perfect.
