Description
Thus passes the glory of the world.
The rich and the powerful will strut across the world stage. Their time will be limited and most will not be remembered. In times like these, those who try and live a normal life are the real heroes.
From historian Will Durant:
"Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with people, stealing, shouting and doing the things historians usually record, while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry and even whittle statues. The story of civilization is the story of what happened on the banks. Historians are pessimists because they ignore the banks for the river."
Just feeling kind of philosophical tonight.

Very cool image! good point showing that we are nothing but dust in the wind and through the passage of time, our footsteps will disappear as the waves of time wash across history

I thought, when I was young, that history was dull and boring. And of course it was, the way it was presented. Personal history, people's ordinary lives, are what matters most, not dates and battles. The greatest undiscovered countries are internal, as are the most important battles.
