Description

Elephant, Oeps !! Big Old Bull is crossing the road. Photo is taken from our camper when we drove through the Etosha national park. We have seen only a few (very large) elephants and an overload of other species of wildlife in this huge national park (the bluish is due to the screen of the camper). We spent 4 days (3 nights) in this fantastic national park in Namibia. We made in May / June 2011 a trip through the southern part of Africa ( RSA, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia) . Have a very nice day, Henk Additional info: Etosha National Park is a national park in the Kunene Region of northwestern Namibia. The park shares boundaries with the regions of Oshana, Oshikoto and Otjozondjupa. Etosha was first established in 1907, when Namibia was a German colony known as South West Africa. At the time, the park’s original 100,000 km² (38,500 mile²) made it the largest game reserve in the world. Due to political changes since its original establishment, the park is now slightly less than a quarter of its original area, but still remains a very large and significant area in which wildlife is protected.
